Preschool Class
Our Preschool Class supports children as they grow into confident, capable learners. Through a balance of play-based learning and intentional academic experiences in language, math, and science, children build the skills they need to feel ready for kindergarten. With thoughtful guidance and meaningful daily routines, children develop independence, problem-solving skills, and strong social relationships. Teachers create a structured yet flexible environment where curiosity is encouraged, language is enriched, and learning feels joyful and purposeful. English and Mandarin are naturally integrated throughout the day to support communication, cultural awareness, and early academic foundations.

Some things to expect
Small group learning and guided instruction
Preschoolers learn best when they feel known, supported, and challenged. We maintain small group ratios so teachers can provide intentional instruction, closely observe each child’s progress, and respond to individual learning needs. Through small-group activities, collaborative play, and teacher-guided lessons, children practice listening, thinking, and problem-solving while building focus, cooperation, and growing independence.
Monthly themed curriculum and skill development
Our preschool curriculum is thoughtfully organized around monthly themes that spark curiosity and connect learning across language, math, science, and the arts. Through stories, discussions, early math activities, science exploration, and hands-on projects, children strengthen cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills. Activities are carefully planned to be developmentally appropriate while gently building the academic foundations needed for kindergarten readiness.
Nutritious snacks and lunch provided
Healthy meals and snacks fuel active bodies and curious minds. Children enjoy balanced, nutritious foods in a calm, supportive setting that encourages self-help skills, table manners, and positive peer interaction. Mealtimes are also learning moments, supporting social development and independence. We work closely with families to accommodate food allergies and dietary needs.
Daily outdoor play and physical development
Preschoolers enjoy ample outdoor time each day to move, explore, and recharge. Outdoor play supports gross motor development through running, climbing, and active games, while fine motor skills are strengthened through hands-on and nature-based activities. Time outside also encourages cooperation, confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of physical activity.

English and Mandarin are integrated naturally throughout the day during play, routines, stories, songs, and everyday conversations. Children experience both languages in meaningful, real-life contexts rather than through formal lessons, allowing language to develop naturally and with confidence.

This immersive approach helps children connect language with relationships, actions, and daily life, supporting strong bilingual understanding in a warm, supportive environment.

Individualized care begins at enrollment, when parents and guardians share detailed information about their child’s routines, strengths, interests, and specific needs. Teachers and families work together to establish an individualized care plan that supports each child’s well-being, development, and learning.
Ongoing communication is an essential part of this partnership. Teachers share daily updates during drop-off and pick-up, and children’s progress, challenges, and milestones are discussed in greater depth during twice-annual parent-teacher conferences. Care plans are reviewed and updated each year in collaboration with families to ensure they continue to reflect each child’s growth and evolving needs.

Little Caterpillar Academy does not offer short-term, drop-in, or one-week enrollment. Our program is designed to provide consistency, stability, and meaningful relationships, which are essential for young children’s well-being and development.
Enrollment is based on ongoing care rather than temporary attendance. This allows children to build strong connections with teachers and peers, settle into daily routines, and fully benefit from our play-based, bilingual learning environment.
If you’re unsure whether our program is the right fit, we’re happy to discuss your family’s needs and help explore appropriate options.
